Down in the Cotswolds, Alex James is opening up his farm for a bank holiday weekend like no other. Think amazing food created by top chefs, coupled with top name musicians and an array children’s entertainment. The Big Feastival is set to top off the summer holidays in style – roll on the bank holiday weekend.
Launching in 2011, the festival has come a long way since it launched on Clapham Common, but the ethos of exceptional food, great music and fun for everyone has remained. Every time we visit the website we find another hidden highlight that makes us ever so excited inside, most recently discovering Embrace are making an appearance as well as a DJ set from Faithless. Our four year old won’t be disappointed with a kids line up including Justin Fletcher, Paw Patrol and a traditional fair ground.
The festival is certainly flying the flag for sustainability, featuring fabulous organic food and ‘from farm to fork’ education for the little ones.
Some of our festival highlights include:
Tom Hunt is an award-winning chef, food writer, food waste campaigner, author of The Natural Cook and ambassador for the Soil Association. Tom prioritises people and the environment within his work and believes in a fair global food system where our actions benefit community, biodiversity and wildlife.
Tom runs Forgotten Feast – a campaign promoting sustainable food through dining and celebration. Forgotten Feast creates banquets with food waste and/or topical ingredients. Working closely with charitable organisations including Slow Food, FareShare and Action Against Hunger highlighting important concerns in the food industry.
The Big Feastival makes growing and cooking fun for kids. Working with The Royal Agricultural University, they have created an incredible new sensory experience for children that will showcase the journey from field to fork with the fresh herbs and vegetables grown at the festival. Think fragrant basil, coriander and rosemary, along with home-grown earthy courgettes and carrots. The little ones can then go and cook up their ingredients in the NEFF little kitchen
Don your spandex and pile on the glitter, it’s the most glamorous and fun way to bend and stretch. Blissful, energising sequences to a glorious mix of disco favourites like Diana Ross, Chic and The Jackson Five will rejuvenate your mind, body and soul, and have you ready for whatever lays ahead!
New for 2017 is a fabulous Big Feastival Fire Pit. Enjoy campfire sing-a-longs, marshmallow toasting and relax in a new hot spot with entertainment starting from dusk every evening.
This festival isn’t just about the food. Headliners include, Hacienda Classical, Olly Murs and Madness. Grab your hedgerow cocktail and your folding chair.
Book tickets for both weekend and single days if you don’t fancy packing an overnight bag.
